In a word… YES. It just happened in Michigan.

Last month, a 78 year-old man stopped at a gas station and went into the convenience store. While he was in the store, a juvenile delinquent got in the victim’s car and hid in the back seat.

When the victim got back in his car the juvenile claimed he was armed with a handgun and ordered the victim to drive to his (the victim’s) home.

Once there, the juvenile ordered the victim out of the car, took the car keys and drove away.

What can we learn from this?

Bad guys really do hide in the back seat of cars. So it’s important to check your back seat when you come back to your car.

Lock your doors! If the car doors had been locked, the juvenile would most likely have moved on.

Gas stations are SO not safe anymore. They have become very dangerous areas. So always be wary when entering a gas station parking lot.

Watch for people lurking. Lock all doors. Head on a swivel. Pay attention.
