Football Fan Attacks Woman after She Teases Him about Game Loss

[Old article. But still lessons to be learned.]

Never tease a football fan, I guess. A few years ago, a Wisconsin woman was teasing Mark Mueller, a family member and Vikings fan, about the recent loss of his team.

According to an article in WAOW.com, Mueller is now being charged with “felony strangulation and suffocation, and misdemeanor battery and disorderly conduct, according to online court records.”

The woman said that Mueller had become angry because of her teasing. Once she realized how angry he was, she tried to calm him down.

Instead, he decided to choke her, saying he would kill her.

The woman tried to defend herself by slapping Mueller in the face. What did that get her? A punch in the jaw.

The article doesn’t explain how the woman got away from Mueller. But apparently she did.

A slap in the face is not a good defensive technique

I give the lady credit that she did something to try and stop her attacker. But, it’s rare that things like slapping and scratching will stop an attacker. There are many better defensive moves.

Eye gouge. Knee to the groin. Throat strike. Trachea Squeeze. And other techniques.

Yes, some of those tactics are considered lethal force. But Mueller threatened to kill her. And he had his hands around her throat and was choking her. She had every right to do whatever she needed to do to stop the attacker.

The woman stated that Mueller had also threatened her in the past, saying he would kill her and mutilate her body. I wish she would have used that as motivation to take some self defense classes!

Fight Violence with Violence

When someone has decided to be violent toward you, to save yourself you must be able to be violent and aggressive toward them in return.

Family member or not, no one has the right to attack you. And you have every right to defend yourself in any way necessary.

Remember, if you don’t already know, learn how to defend yourself. Take some lessons. Develop a defensive mindset. Hopefully, you’ll never have to use your new defensive skills. But with the surge in violence now-a-days, you never know.
