Hey! Is That Weapon Legal?
I just found a blog post entitled “9 Legal Self Defense Weapons You Can Buy for Protection.” Included in his list were Stun guns, tasers, cat key rings, pepper spray, and knives.
Nowhere in the general information of the article did they say that those weapons (or certain versions of them) are considered illegal in some places.
To be fair I will say that, under the section specifically talking about knives, he did add, “Knives are usually legal in areas where pepper spray, stun guns, and firearms are considered legal self defense weapons by the law.” So this does reference legality. But it’s vague.
Legality is not mentioned in the general information paragraphs written before and after the list of weapons, nor is it in any other specific section.
In fact, in the stun gun section he says, “Stun guns are the perfect legal self defense weapons, as they don’t have a lethal effect but they can disable them temporarily.”

The reality is, no matter what your defensive weapon of choice is, the government has probably gotten involved and has made some kind of law or ordinance that limits its use in some way.
Those laws/ordinances will vary from state to state, city to city, county to county, and sometimes even within cities. It isn’t right. But that’s the world we live in right now. So be careful.
Just because you can purchase something online doesn’t mean it’s legal where you live or work. Check the laws where you live/work/travel (however unconstitutional they may be) to be sure you don’t get in a jam with LEOs.
And learn how to use your weapon of choice safely and effectively.
